The
Department of Mathematics is one of the oldest departments of this
university. This department started functioning from the very beginning of
engineering education in this country. The Department of Mathematics provides
engineering oriented undergraduate mathematics courses to all engineering,
architecture & planning students at BUET and offers M.Phil and PhD
degree in Mathematics.
The
department is offering postgraduate courses since 1986. Each year this
department is awarding the highest number of MPhil
degree in Mathematics in Bangladesh
and remains the highest number of MPhil degree
awarding department of its kind in our country. Some postgraduate courses are
also being offered for the students of the departments of MME, WRE, NAME etc. The standard of the courses offered are
comparable to those of any other standard international universities.
PROGRAMS
Under-graduate
Offering undergraduate mathematics courses to all engineering, architecture
& planning students.
Post Gaduate
M. Sc.
Offering some postgraduate mathematics courses for the students of MME, WRE,
NAME, GCE etc.
M.Phil
Running M.Phil program in the research field of
Fluid Dynamics and Boundary Layer Theory, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD),
Numerical and Approximant Methods, Refrigeration, Quantum Mechanics, Graph
Theory and Optimization Techniques.
PhD
Running PhD program in the research field of Fluid Dynamics and boundary
layer theory, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Numerical and Approximant
Methods and in Quantum Mechanics.
RESEARCH
The research is conducted in the fields related to:
